Birding

Goliath heron

Home to the African Finfoot, Palm-nut Vulture, Black Stork, Boehm’s Bee-eater, Giant Kingfishe, Dickinson's Kestrel and, quite probably, Pel’s fishing owl, the Bua River close to Bua River Lodge is a fascinating spot for birding.

There are over 200 species recorded for the reserve as a whole (over 130 within the vicinity of Bua River Lodge) and, considering how little the area has been studied, almost certainly new species not yet listed for the area.
